Hi, I’m Christine Whelan, and I’m your Liberal Democrat candidate for the City of Ely Council in the by-election on 2 May 2024. I’ve lived in the district since 2000. I work part time as a teaching assistant in a school, working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.

I am one of the three Liberal Democrat district councillors for Ely West and a former city councillor having been first elected in 2015.

My priorities for Ely are our local environment, facilities for young people and reviving our high street. I would like to see our streets made safer.

I am part of the Cambridgeshire Police Use of Force scrutiny panel as a member of the public.
